Now that Prince Harry has officially left the Las Vegas party circuit for the frontlines of Afghanistan, he's facing a threat from the Taliban there.
Harry, 27, who arrived in the war zone early Friday morning to begin his four-month tour of duty, is set to finish the first phase of his initial training at Camp Bastion before he steps up as a co-pilot of an Apache attack helicopter. The camp is situated in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province, considered a hub of the Taliban.
"We are using all our strength to get rid of him, either by killing or kidnapping," a Taliban spokesman has said, according to reports.
Britain's Ministry of Defence has not commented on the Taliban's statement, according to Reuters, and few details about Prince Harry's time in Afghanistan have been released for security reasons.
Once the prince completes his two-day RSOI (Reception, Staging, Onward-Movement and Integration) course in first aid, shooting and IED (Improvised Explosive Device) awareness Sunday, he's due to head into the cockpit Monday for his helicopter-specific training.
While honing his flying skills, Captain Wales – as he's known in the Army – will also face nature: During the day, temperatures soar to about 95º.
