After a gruelling and interesting selection process across the six regions: Lagos, Abuja, PH, Enugu, Ibadan and Benin, 15 families finally made it to the MDA intensive booth camp. Out of the 15 families that passed through the intensive Maltina Dance All booth camp, only 10 would make it to the academy.  The 15 families went up against each other for the 10 slots available in the Academy. At stake is N6 million and a brand new car.
The beautiful host, Kemi Adetiba who has been the host of the favourite MDA show for four years running introduced the judges of the show; Veteran dancer Muyiwa Osinaike, Janell Burgess and Michael Adegoke.

The Ozurumba family were the first to hit the stage followed by the Efiokwu family starting out with a robotic performance. The Boyle family was next followed by the Salami, Okasia, Onuoha, Onyebuagu, Achor, Eghove, Zibe, Amilo, Nwogwugwu, Fashina, Daniel and finally the Green family.
With highly scintillating performances by the 15 families, the judges had a daunting challenge selecting the 10 families into the MDA academy. In the end, The Efiokwu, Zibe, Eghove, Boyle, Ozurumba, Onyebuagu, Amilo, Green, Nwogwugwu and Okasia families were admitted into the MDA season 6 academy.

The Salami, Daniel, Achor, Onuoha and Fashina families could not convince the judges that they have what it takes to enter the prestigious dance Academy and were thus evicted from the academy
