Gunmen kill soldier, ex-commissioner, 3 others in Zamfara


In separate attacks, gunmen on Sunday struck in Zamfara state, killing a soldier, a former commissioner and three others.
The first incident occurred at Ajiya village of Mada district area of Gusau local government area where about 50 gunmen stormed the area.
Similarly, a former commissioner of Agriculture in the immediate Past administration of Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Bakura, was robbed of his car and killed.
Bakura was said have been trailed by the robbers at Eastern Bye-pass. He was asked to stop; on stopping he was asked to surrender the car after which he was fired.
Findings revealed that the hoodlums again stormed a market area and opened fire at some villagers, killing 3 people.
The gunmen were said to have driven away over 100 cows and rams belonging to the villagers.
Blueprint gathered that a detachment of the mobile police under the had been deployed to the area.
When contacted, the PPRO, DSP Hassan Talba, disclosed that the gunmen could be the same hoodlums that terrorized Zurmi area last week Friday and killed 10 vigilante members.
He said the police is working round the clock to arrest the criminals.
