Gunmen Kill Two Nigerians; Abduct French National In Katsina – Police

People of Rimi in Katsina State have been thrown into mourning as gunmen attacked the community.
Gunmen invaded Rimi in Katsina State on Wednesday, abducted a French construction worker, killed two persons, and attacked a police station, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Abdullahi Magaji, has confirmed.
Mr. Magaji said on Thursday in Katsina that the gunmen attacked the police station to divert attention, as their main target was the abduction of the expatriate supervisor handling a mill project in Rimi.
Mr. Magaji also said that a mobile policeman sustained injuries during the attack and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
He said “one gun belonging to the hoodlums was recovered and we are going to arrest them”.
A witness had earlier said the incident occurred on Wednesday night when a gang of gunmen attacked the police station and the residence of the Frenchman.
According to the witness, the gunmen arrived in three cars and split into three groups to carry out the attacks simultaneously.
“Although the police station was devastated, no one was killed or injured there,” the witness said.
A correspondent who visited Rimi, reports that residents of the town, including the caretaker Chairman of the Local Government Council, Nasiru Ala, were already preparing to bury the deceased.
