Nigerian pilgrims dance, pray at Sea of Galilee

Galilee - Nigerian pilgrims turned their pilgrimage into a carnival on Wednesday at the Sea of Galilee in Israel when they danced to various Nigerian tunes.
Biblical account in the book of Matthew, Chapter 14, says it is on the Sea of Galilee that Jesus walked and told His disciple Peter to walk up to Him as Christ calmed the ensuing storm.
In his sermon to the pilgrims, Ven. Peter Ogunmuyiwa, explained that the storm was a metaphor.
He said that Christians should have faith that Jesus would calm their storms — all their troubles and that of Nigeria.
“Whatever situation is troubling our lives will be removed; the troubles we are experiencing in Nigeria will be over from henceforth.
“Our greatest storm in Nigeria is insecurity; we pray God to expose all causes of trouble and terrorism in Nigeria and arrest the situation.’’
The pilgrims were shown the boat believed to be Peter’s fishing boat dug out by archaeologists.
The Sea of Galilee, which is 30 metres deep, is Israel’s largest fresh water reservoir and that country’s largest source of drinking water. (NAN)
