Kaduna Assembly confirms Bajoga as deputy governor


The Kaduna state House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the nomination of Ambassador Nuhu Audu Bajoga as deputy governor of the state, following his nomination by Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.
Bajoga was before his confirmation by the House the chairman of state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since March 2012.
The session, which was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Dogara Mato, witnessed the reading of the nomination letter on the floor of the House.
The letter, dated December 24, 2012 stated in part, “The Honourable House may wish to note that following my successful inauguration and subsequent assumption of office as the Executive Governor of Kaduna state, the office of the Deputy Governor became vacant in accordance with section 191 (3)b of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Accordingly, the nominee, Audu, Nuhu Nyam Bajoga, who is currently the State PDP Chairman has undergone security vetting and has been found to be worthy of the appointment. In view of the foregoing, I hereby forward the name of Audu, Nuhu Nyam Bajoga, whose curriculum vitae is herewith attached for the kind consideration and approval of the Honourable House to be appointed as Deputy Governor in line with section 191 (3) c of the Constitution”.
After reading the executive letter, the legislators unanimously voted for the confirmation of Bajoga as deputy governor, after which the deputy Speaker in accordance with the rules guiding the House sessions approved the nomination without deliberations.
It was gathered that the position of Bajoga as chairman of the state PDP accorded him some privilege in the House.
